The original Hummer was a legend in the 2000s, but the new 2022 GMC Hummer EV is setting a new standard for the nameplate. With incredible specs and a slew of highly advanced technology, the Hummer EV is unlike any other electric vehicle or pickup truck. And now, we can finally behold its gorgeous and rugged design since GM released photos of the impressive, high-end Edition 1 trim.

One of the most exciting elements of the new 2022 Hummer EV is not apparent at first glance, and that’s the three-motor setup, which delivers an estimated 1,000 horsepower. Driver-selectable modes can adjust output to bring the Hummer EV from 0 to 60 in only 3 seconds. All of that power comes with admirable EV qualities, like over 350 miles of all-electric driving range from the Ultium battery system,* and DC fast charger compatibility for roughly 100 miles of range after just 10 minutes of charging.**

The Hummer EV is equipped with a number of off-road features, including an innovative 4 Wheel Steer with CrabWalk that lets you travel diagonally over rugged terrain. There’s also an adaptive air suspension, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and underbody armor.

The ride is further enhanced with a metric ton of advanced technology. Hummer EV comes equipped with Super Cruise, a hands-free driver-assist feature that works on over 200,000 miles of mapped highway. The cabin also has a 13.4-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch driver information display, and access to 18 different camera views via the UltraVision system.

While the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 sold out within hours of becoming available, you can still reserve your Hummer EV right here at Rivard Buick GMC.

*GM estimate applies to Edition 1 and available on EV3X based on a full charge. EPA estimates not yet available. Your actual range may vary based on several factors, including temperature, terrain, battery age, and how you use and maintain your vehicle.

**GM estimate applies to Edition 1 and available on EV3X. Actual charge times will vary based on battery condition, output of charger, vehicle settings and outside temperature. Requires use of public 800-volt DC fast chargers.

2021 Yukon Denali | Tampa, FL

The all-new 2021 Yukon Denali is one of GMC’s most luxurious vehicles, but it comes with a new diesel engine option that’s sure to save you money.

If you opt for a Yukon Denali equipped with the new 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax® turbodiesel engine, you could save about $1,500 compared to the standard version with a 6.2-liter V8.

The Duramax® turbodiesel is also likely to cost you less at the pump. Fuel-efficiency specs for this engine haven’t been released yet, but they’ll be similar to the turbodiesel that’s already offered for the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup truck. That engine gets an EPA-estimated 22 city mpg and 26 highway mpg.*

The Yukon’s Duramax® turbodiesel is also expected to deliver 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Like the V8, it comes paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.

GMC Earns High Marks in the 2020 J.D. Power APEAL Study

GMC Earns High Marks in the 2020 J.D. Power APEAL Study | Dixon, IL

GMC recently scored high marks in J.D. Power’s Automotive, Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study. Evaluating automakers on driver satisfaction, the evaluation showed that the GMC brand surpassed several other manufacturers, including Ford, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, and Toyota.

In order to compile the list, J.D. Power uses something called the Tech Experience Index (TXI) to determine how attached owners feel to their vehicles. This rates 37 different attributes, including aspects often overlooked in similar studies, such as comfort, a sense of luxury, and the thrill of the drive as you accelerate. GMC models scored third in the industry, which means its vehicles aren’t only reliable, but also enjoyable.

Dave Sargent, vice president of automotive quality at J.D. Power, stated the company’s vision behind the ranking: “The APEAL Study measures an owner’s emotional attachment to their new vehicle and in what areas that vehicle may not be delivering on all of the positive experiences that were hoped for.”

The Sierra HD was one of the highest-scoring its segment, and comes in two variants: the 2500HD or 3500HD. This model can tow up to 35,500 pounds when properly equipped, carry a payload of up to 7,442 pounds, and also comes with an array of features and trim levels designed to make driving more enjoyable.

GMC – One Of The Longest Lasting Brands

GMC | Tampa, FL
GMC | Tampa, FL

Each year, iSeeCars ranks auto brands according to their durability. After evaluating over 15.8 million cars sold in 2019 to see which ones lasted the longest, iSeeCars announced its top most long-lasting brands. GMC secured third place on this list.

Per iSeeCars, 1.4 percent of all GMC models reached 200,000 miles or more. Many of the brands on the list had a rating of 0.6 percent or lower. It’s not surprising that GMC made the list, since the majority of longest-lasting SUVs and pickups that ranked high for endurance were American vehicles, as iSeeCars CEO Phong Ly commented.

In particular, iSeeCars praised the GMC Sierra 1500, GMC Canyon, and GMC Yukon XL for their long shelf life. The Sierra 1500 and Canyon earned recognition in the light-duty pickup truck segment. The organization also lauded the Yukon XL as one of the SUVs most likely to surpass the 200,000-mile mark. Some Yukon XL models achieve 300,000 miles, which is an impressive feat for the category.

If you’re looking for a brand with a reputation for longevity, go with GMC. Stop by Rivard Buick GMC to take the Sierra 1500, Canyon, and Yukon XL models for test drives. We’ll help match you with the right GMC vehicle to suit your lifestyle and needs.

GMC Tested the CarbonPro® Bed Against Hurricane-Force Winds

GMC CarbonPro Edition Sierra 1500 | Tampa, FL
GMC CarbonPro Edition Sierra 1500 | Tampa, FL

Are you tired of unsightly dents and scratches in your truck bed? Then you might want to think about getting a truck with the industry-first available GMC CarbonPro® truck bed. It’s so tough that GMC tested it against hurricane-force winds.

The GMC CarbonPro® comes standard on all 2019 and 2020 Sierra 1500 Denali CarbonPro® Editions and the Sierra 1500 AT4 CarbonPro® Edition models. Instead of using the standard truck bed model, which consists of steel for the panels and floor, this innovative bed is made from a rugged carbon-fiber composite.

The CarbonPro® was designed to ensure long-term durability in a truck bed that provides best-in-class dent and scratch resistance. In order to ensure its ruggedness and functionality, GMC subjected it to a number of rigorous tests, not the least of which being Category 1 hurricane-force projectiles, one of the strongest forces in nature. After proving to be unphased by things like extreme temperatures, corrosion, and 1,800-pound loads of gravel, the CarbonPro showed that it had no issue taking on hurricane winds either.

Beds made without the carbon-fiber composite did not fare quite as well in the hurricane test, thanks to its higher rebound efficiency. That allows items to bounce right off rather than absorbing the impact.

To learn more about the revolutionary CarbonPro® bed and the Sierra trucks it’s equipped on, give us a call at Rivard Buick GMC.

Buick Encore and Envision Showing Increased Sales

Buick Encore and Envision Showing Increased Sales – Tampa, FL

As the rest of the automotive market struggles to beat an overall decrease in sales, the Buick Encore and Envision both sold significantly more in the last quarter of 2019 than in the same quarter of 2018. The Enclave was the second-highest seller for the year at 10,143 units.

SUV sales across the industry are way up while sedan sales are down, so it makes sense that the bestsellers in the Buick lineup were SUVs. In fact, 95.8 percent of Buick sales were SUVs. The 22.2 percent gain for the Encore and the 11.2 percent gain for the Envision show a market trend toward small SUVs.

Last year’s sales fall perfectly in line with the decision to discontinue the sedans in the Buick lineup. Since the automaker’s sedans have been routinely outpaced by its SUVs, it’s no surprise that Buick will soon move away from cars like the LaCrosse and Regal in order to give drivers what they want.

Soon Buick will focus entirely on premium crossovers and SUVs like the Encore and Envision, which are loaded with luxury features like Keyless Open and Start, heated front seats, and QuietTuning technologies that make your daily commute easier, whether you’re a parent, single, or in between.

No matter what you’re looking for, Buick’s upcoming all-SUV lineup has something you’ll love. To experience the automaker’s luxurious crossovers—including the best-selling Encore and Envision—for yourself, swing by Rivard Buick GMC for a test drive.

Buick Encore To Revive The GM Three-Cylinder Engine

Buick Encore To Revive The GM Three-Cylinder Engine - Tampa, FL
Buick Encore To Revive The GM Three-Cylinder Engine – Tampa, FL

For the first time in nearly 20 years, General Motors is adding a three-cylinder engine to its American lineup. This new engine will find its home in the all-new 2020 Buick Encore GX and will be available in either 1.2- or 1.3-liter displacements. Both options will be turbocharged.

With their turbochargers, these engines will deliver more than enough power for the Encore GX. Although GM hasn’t officially released output numbers, we can look at other GM three-cylinder engines available globally. In the Korean version of the Malibu, its 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine produces 156 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. If the new engine gets a similar rating, it will be on par with larger, four-cylinder engines.

The last time General Motors offered a three-cylinder engine was for the now-defunct Geo Metro in 2000. That engine only produced 55 horsepower, proving how far GM’s technology and engineering have come in the last two decades.

Along with its new engine, the Buick Encore GX will offer ample interior space, including 25.3 cubic feet of cargo room, making it significantly larger than the standard Encore. The Encore GX will also come standard with a variety of advanced safety features, including automatic emergency braking.

We can’t wait to see you here at Rivard Buick GMC when the new Encore GX finally hits roads in 2020.
