When a hurricane is approaching the area where you live, it’s extremely important to prepare for unpredictable conditions and potential hazards. While taking steps to protect your home, though, don’t neglect your vehicle. In the event of an emergency, follow these tips from Rivard Buick GMC and prepare your car for a hurricane.
Fill gas tank and charge battery
In the aftermath of a hurricane, things like fuel and batteries can be extremely scarce. Before the weather turns ugly, fill you gas tank completely and make sure you’re battery is fully charged. A road ready car can be a major help if you need to evacuate.
Check oil, wipers, and tires
The last thing you want if help is temporarily unavailable is to break down and get stranded. If a major storm is approaching, check your oil, windshield wipers, and tires and make sure everything is in working order.
Pack emergency supplies
During hurricane season, keep a bag of essentials stowed in your car in case you need to unexpectedly evacuate. Be sure to pack water, food, clothes, flashlights, and a cellphone charger.
An approaching hurricane can cause serious stress and danger, but you’ll be more prepared if you take the time and ready your car with these simple tips from Rivard Buick GMC.
If the words “Buick sedan” conjure up an image up a hulking four-door with bench seating and outdated styling, you clearly haven’t been paying attention to what Buick has been doing.
The release of the all-new 2018 Buick Regal GS will forever change your notion of what a Buick is. With an updated and strikingly elegant exterior, luxurious and sporty interior, and plenty of raw power under the hood, the 2018 Buick Regal GS is a game-changer in the sedan category.
At the heart of the 2018 Buick Regal GS is an impressive 3.6-liter, naturally aspirated V6 engine generating 310 hp and 282 lb-ft of torque. This is the same engine you’ll find under the hood of the unapologetically muscular Chevrolet Camaro. Pair this with a nine-speed transmission and an active twin-clutch AWD system, and the idea behind the all-new Regal GS is clear: to make a luxury sedan that is an absolute thrill to drive.
Inside and out, the 2018 Buick Regal GS exudes luxury and refinement. A restyled front end make for a sleeker, more angular and sporty look than previous models while premium appointments such as heated, ventilated, and bolstered sport seats offer an exhilarating driving experience.
With a price tag considerably lower than luxury offerings from competing automakers, the 2018 Buick Regal GS is a standout vehicle. Stop by Rivard Buick GMC to learn more or take a test drive of any of our models.

The partnership will allow GMC and Chevy to introduce heavy-duty pickups and full-size vans with compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) engines in early 2017. The announcement came shortly after the two automakers chose PSI as their preferred upfitter for CNG- and LPG-capable trucks.
GM will supply GMC and Chevy vehicles to PSI, who will fit the vehicles with the LPG or CNG fuel system and then ship the finished trucks and vans directly to dealerships. GM has been expanding its green lineup for years through vehicles like the Chevy Volt and Bolt EV as well as alternative fuel options. Now, expanding the Chevy and GMC fleet options lets them reduce fuel consumption and costs while providing a range of choices for fleet managers, who have different needs.
The US Department of Transportation also announced in December that it will designate a national network of alternative fuel corridors across 55 routes in 35 states. The network will be almost 85,000 miles long and will continue to expand as electric, hydrogen, and other fuel sources are popularized.
Each fan who brought a new, unwrapped toy to the arena was able to take a picture with Filppula or get his autograph. Metropolitan Ministries runs an annual toy drive and had an “urgent need” in December, and Filppula’s help garnered a huge swell of extra support right before Christmas.
Metropolitan Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit in the Tampa area that has served poor and homeless Tampa Bay families since 1972. The organization provides resources including food, housing, and childcare, as well as offering life skills classes and other resources, helping hundreds of people every day.
In 2013 the Ministries gave toys to more than 19,000 children and provided assistance to 22,000 families. They also host food drives, providing meals to more than 1.5 million people, and they’ll even do the shopping for you if you donate a gift card.
Filppula, a Finnish player for Tampa Bay’s hockey team, joined the Lightning in 2013, before which he played for the Detroit Red Wings for eight years and helped the team win a Stanley Cup in 2008. This season Filppula has totaled 24 points, including 6 goals and 18 assists, across 34 games.
