Finding the perfect mid-size SUV that’s safe enough for your family isn’t easy, but the new GMC Acadia offers plenty of new technologies to close the gap. The luxury mid-size SUV segment is incredibly competitive, especially when it comes to safety, so here’s a brief look at the innovative safety technologies available in the 2017 GMC Acadia.
Keeping track of your teenager can be hard, especially once they get their license and get behind the wheel. Fortunately, GMC’s Teen Driver mode enables parents to keep track of their teen and set limitations. Parents can check out their child’s driving habits via the Report Card feature and help encourage safe driving habits.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
A standard Rear Vision Camera is helpful, but it can’t prevent every accident. Available Rear Cross-Traffic Alert makes use of radar sensors to detect cross traffic when reversing. The innovative technology will alert the driver if there’s a problem.
Side Blind Zone Alert
Vehicles in your blind spot can be a problem and a major safety hazard, especially if they linger there. Fortunately, available Side Blind Zone Alert will alert drivers to a vehicle in their blind spot as soon as the turn signal is activated.

While Ford, Chevrolet, and Ram are the Big Three of Detroit, there’s another contender moving to town. The GMC Sierra 1500 is a full-size pickup with the offerings of a luxury pickup without the price. At the top of the line is the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, a fully loaded luxury pickup. Brian Leon of the New York Daily News took the Sierra 1500 Denali for a spin and while you can read his review here, we have a few of the highlights.
Boasting a large grille and chrome accents, the Sierra 1500 Denali is a hard truck to miss. Riding on 20-inch aluminum wheels, the pickup boasts plenty of leather surfacing on the interior.
Large, comfortable seats make highway drives enjoyable and there’s plenty of space for stowing cargo. With enough room for four average-sized adults, the crew cab is more than large enough for a road trip.
Ease of use makes driving this pickup truck a breeze, which is exactly what you get with automatic climate control. The control layout is easy to understand and everything is exactly where any driver would expect it to be.
As for utility, the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali goes above and beyond. With a five-foot-eight-inch bed coming standard, transporting everything short of another truck is easy. When equipped with a 6.2L V8 engine, towing capacity comes to a maximum 9,200 lbs. With the available “Max Towing” package, that number jumps to 11,700 lbs.
Here at Rivard Buick GMC, we have the latest GMC Sierra 1500 in stock and ready for a test drive!
It’s a little early to believe any rumors or leaks about the 2018 GMC Terrain but spy shots are a whole different store. The next-generation GMC Terrain was caught testing on roadways and from the looks of it, this is a fully revamped compact SUV. While what we can see from the photos is limited to appearance, it’s certainly telling.
First, expect a sleeker Terrain for the 2018 model year. Boasting a less-upright shape with a raked windshield, the next-gen model will ride with a lower roofline. The grille itself will evolve to look more like the redesigned GMC Acadia.
Likely to shrink when it goes on sale in 2017, the 2018 GMC Terrain will ride on the same platform at the Chevrolet Cruze. That could mean a smoother ride overall without sacrificing the Terrain’s larger engine and power.
Given the current Terrain’s roominess and power, only time will tell if the next-generation model will maintain that standard. The 2016 Terrain boasts two engines to choose from and offers some of the best fuel economy ratings in its class.
With the 2018 model year approaching rapidly, only time will tell what will happen when the Terrain officially hits roadways.
Here at Rivard Buick GMC, we can’t wait for the officially unveiling for the 2018 GMC Terrain!
In celebration of National Military Appreciation Month, GMC is expanding its military discount. Normally the discount is offered for veterans within one year of separation, active-duty personnel, reservists, retirees, and their spouses. Now, GMC will offer the discount to all 21 million US military veterans, regardless of separation date.
The GMC military discount varies somewhat by year, and model; however, when combined with other offers, veterans can save thousands of dollars. According to GMC, the military discount is also offered for spouses of personnel, which is a great way to support the families of all our men and women serving at home and abroad.
“These brave men and women have done so much for our country,” said Steve Hill, GM vice president of US sales and service. “Making sure all veterans can take advantage of our military discount to celebrate Military Appreciation Month is one small way we can express our gratitude.”
This discount is available for some of the most popular GMC models, including the Acadia and Yukon. Believe it or not, GMC began supporting the US military more than 100 years ago during the First World War by supplying troops with reliable trucks and parts. Today, it continues that legacy by giving back.
Long gone are the days of wondering about GMC’s future in the American automotive market. For the last 20 months, GMC has recorded huge year-over-year gains and has just document its best Q3 since 2005.
Just in September, GMC U.S. sales (retail) saw a 20.5 percent increase, and when you include commercial customer and fleet sales, that number hops up to a whopping 24 percent, making this GMC’s best September since 2004.
Across the board, the automotive industry has been reporting strong numbers, but nothing quite like the numbers coming from the GMC U.S. sales reports. The brand’s retail sales of crossovers, pickups, and SUVs are up 12.6 percent in the first 9 months of the year. That 12.6 might seem small to the untrained eye, but when you consider that it’s more than twice the industry average, it starts to feel a whole lot bigger.
The Acadia, Terrain, Yukon and Yukon XL, and the Canyon are performing exceptionally well. Americans seem to love the tough-but-luxurious vibes GMC is putting out these days.
