Buick doesn’t make vehicles and sell vehicles in a vacuum. When a company gets to be as large as Buick, it can be easy to see it as aloof. Then you see what Buick is doing with its Buick Achievers program, and it reminds you that the automaker is very much an integral part of the community.
The Buick Achievers Program began four years ago. Designed to help those in need and also infuse the nation’s STEM fields with new life, the program has thus far donated $28 million to help young people obtain a college degree since its inception. Thirty-four hundred people have benefitted from Buick’s philanthropy so far.
Now, Buick has announced that it is donating another $1.2 million towards the program. Fifty applicants will be selected and receive up to $25,000 a year to help each achieve their dream of attending college. Students are eligible to apply for scholarships after high school or any year that they are enrolled in college.
